MTS launches media platform for cyber sportsmen, gamers
MOSCOW, Mar 13 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operator MTS has launched an interactive media platform for cyber sportsmen and gamers, called WASD.TV, whose users can play, watch games of other players, and earn virtual currency, the company said on Wednesday in a statement.
“WASD.TV is MTS’ own development. We’re launching not only a streaming service, but presenting a platform, which we’ll use as a basis to develop various solutions for gaming, professional cyber sports, and multimedia content,” President Alexei Kornya said.
The platform exploits resources of cloud provider #CloudMTS, which enables WASD.TV to cope with heavy load, typical for online broadcasting. The platform is in a beta-testing mode at present and can be used by a subscriber of any connection operator.
Kornya also said that MTS will invest U.S. $10 million by 2020 in esports, comprising acquisition of cyber sports institution Gambit Esports
The country’s cyber sports market will annually grow by 20% in the nearest years and will reach $55 million in 2019 and go beyond $100 million in 2023.
